How a Sub-Zero gives up what it has stored

A Sub-Zero keeps what upset it in memory and will hand the list over from the keypad on the front of the cabinet. Sub-Zero Pro Repair Denver reads that list with you before anything is opened — (720) 704-2791.

Built-In panels with a Diagnostic Mode, worked from the front keypad

A flashlight and meter at the mechanical bay of a stainless built-in with its lower grille off, hand tools on a towel on the kitchen floor

The part of this that is only keys

Diagnostic Mode lives on the front of the cabinet. Hold either COLDER pad, press UNIT ON/OFF, then release both. The panel then steps through what it has kept, a COLDER or WARMER pad moving you along. Errors appear first, temperatures after them. Write down everything in the order it arrives, because the order carries information.

No panel comes off, no tool is needed, no breaker is touched. It stops where the next mode begins: the manual’s component activation routine energises parts on command, and that one is ours.

What a stored entry is actually worth

Quite a lot as a starting point, nothing at all as a conclusion. Each entry notes something the control disliked at a moment that has passed. We take the same readings live and set them beside the stored ones. What the cabinet still agrees with is the live fault. What it has moved on from is history, and history is cleared rather than repaired.

What we measure

  1. 01 The two set points, before anything else is touched Sub-Zero's general guide opens here. A compartment somebody turned down in June explains readings that would otherwise start a search.
  2. 02 The stored list in the order the panel gives it Codes come up ahead of the temperatures. A sensor entry sitting in front of a run-time entry changes which of the two we treat as the cause.
  3. 03 Both compartments live, against those set points Memory says what happened. This says what is happening. The distance between the two is where the remaining fault is living.
  4. 04 The fourteen days of history the control keeps Log recall shows how the cabinet drifted. A slow slide over a fortnight and one bad night ask for completely different work.

What it usually is

A list read off the panel and given to us over the phone

Time saved, nothing settled. It tells us what to carry to the door, which is why the call is worth making first.

No band covers this one — quoted after the diagnosis

Codes already showing with SERVICE flashing, before anyone entered Diagnostic Mode

The manual's own warning: the cabinet had temperature trouble that may or may not be connected to the codes on screen. Evidence, not a verdict.

An empty memory on a cabinet that is plainly warm

A useful negative. With nothing stored the general guide takes over: set points, then the door, then the condenser and the fans, sealed system last.

Safe to keep running?

That depends on what came up, which is rather the point of reading it. A cabinet holding both set points with old entries in memory can wait for a booked visit. One drifting while fresh codes arrive is spending compressor hours it will not get back. Read us the list and we will say which you have.
