EC 23 pairs an overheat with a silent feedback wire
EC 23 is an overheated defrost recorded together with no voltage back down the feedback lead. Sub-Zero Pro Repair Denver treats that combination as one episode rather than two failures — (720) 704-2791.
Built-In 600-3 Series control boards and their stored codes
The list Sub-Zero prints here is borrowed, and reading it that way saves a
visit. Three of its four checks come straight from code 21: the seating of the
sensor and the heater, the blue lead’s terminal, and any short across from it.
The fourth is the single line code 22 carries.
What is absent is the terminator temperature test. That one belongs to code 21
by itself. And two faults inside one cycle rarely means two failures, so we
look first at what has recently been touched.
What we measure
01Seating of the freezer evaporator sensor and the heaterTop of the printed list for this code. A part put back a finger's width out accounts for the heat on its own.
02The blue lead at its terminal, and against neighbouring circuitsTwo checks in one: the right pin, and no path across to anything else. Either fault puts heat in outside the cycle.
03Whether a forced defrost returns the compressor at five minutesThe single test this code borrows from code 22. It covers the half that reports, not the half that heats.
What it usually is
Both halves in memory on a unit that was opened up last month
Two symptoms from one visit. A sensor put back out of position accounts for the heat; a connector left hanging accounts for the silence.

The terminator testing good and the code standing anyway
Expected here. Sub-Zero leaves the terminator temperatures off this code's list altogether — they belong to code 21 alone, and chasing them here spends the visit.

Clean wiring end to end and the pair coming back
The board, reached last. Two faults logged in one cycle can come from a single connector on it, which is why the wiring is proved before anything is priced.

Safe to keep running?
Not for long. An overheating defrost is putting heat into the compartment while nothing is confirming the cycle, so both the food and the record are unreliable. Read the stored codes and get the panel off. Of the defrost group this is the entry we would not leave standing.
