EC 07 is the freezer compartment sensor, and the run-time list starts here
EC 07 records that the freezer compartment sensor read open, shorted or unsteady for long enough that the control stopped trusting it. Sub-Zero Pro Repair Denver takes that reading before the compressor is blamed — (720) 704-2791.
Built-In 600-3 Series panels, which carry the numbered code table
Sub-Zero publishes two actions against this code and no more: connections and continuity
back to J1, then resistance at the sensor, with a replacement only where the figure sits
outside the window.
The short list matters more than its length suggests. This is the sensor the control
judges the whole freezer by, and the first stop on the manufacturer’s route through an
excessive freezer run. A sealed system diagnosed through a lying thermometer is a sealed
system diagnosed twice.
What we measure
01The freezer slot on the panel, or EE standing in itSub-Zero files EE in that slot, with SERVICE flashing, as this sensor disconnected, shorted or misread. Sometimes the panel says so outright.
02Evaporator temperature, once the set points are notedThe warm-freezer guides sort their suspects by what the coil is doing, and a misread compartment sensor appears at two of the three temperature bands.
03The circuit first, then resistance at 32°FBoth published actions run in that order. Thirty to thirty-three thousand ohms is the figure that tells a dead sensor from a dead connection.
What it usually is
EC 40 stored on the cabinet with this entry underneath it
The route through the freezer run-time code opens at 07, long before the compressor is mentioned. A control told a compartment is still warm has no reason to stop cooling it.
There is more slack here than on the fresh-food side: a full freezer carries its own cold for a time. But the compartment now runs on a figure the control has itself flagged, and the entry will not lapse. Read it, correct it, then clear it — in that order.
